Meet Dr. Barrett Nordstrom
At the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Dr. Nordstrom graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics and minors in Spanish and Anthropology. He uses his love for linguistics and his fluency in the Spanish language at his orthodontic practice on a daily basis. After working for several years as an investment analyst, Dr. Nordstrom pursued his dental degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While at UCLA, Dr. Nordstrom excelled in the classroom academically and held leadership positions with the American Student Dental Association (ASDA). As President of UCLA ASDA, he had opportunities to advocate at the national level on behalf of dental students and won three national awards. Additionally, he co-founded a 501c3 non-profit organization that helped provide dental supplies and services to people living in Guaimaca, Honduras.
Dr. Nordstrom earned numerous awards at UCLA including the Wyatt Rory Hume Endowed Scholarship in recognition of community service. He was a member of the UCLA Dean’s Leadership Institute in recognition of student leaders at the university.
Dr. Nordstrom finished his dental training by completing a three-year residency program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at The Ohio State University. During his residency, Dr. Nordstrom conducted original research on a new, state-of the art wire for braces. The results of his research were later published in one of the most prestigious orthodontic academic journals. Dr. Nordstrom achieved board certification in orthodontics through a rigorous two-step process that involved completion of a written exam as well as a clinical exam.
A native to New England, Dr. Nordstrom is thrilled to be living and working in Rhode Island after living in California, Ohio, and Massachusetts. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Rhode Island Dental Association. In his free time, Dr. Nordstrom enjoys keeping physically fit through running, tennis, and gardening.
First and foremost, he loves spending time with his two young daughters, Lilly and Carlie and his wife, Kate. You can find them exploring coastal communities in New England, traveling, and visiting extended family around the country.
